SHAWN DOBSON
Bringing Openness & Transparency
TO ST.JAMES RESIDENTS
My Focus
My campaign centres around several key areas:
-
fiscal responsibility
-
openness and transparency
-
fixing potholes
-
clearing of sidewalks in the winter
-
crime prevention
-
preventing sewer overflows
My Goals
Using my experience as a former city councillor, I will:
-
continue to advocate for separating our wants from our needs to ensure your taxpayer dollars are used wisely
-
recommend a new focus on fixing potholes with a more durable long-term hot patch applied earlier in the season
-
push to make sidewalk clearing a priority
-
resurrect the Snow Angel Pilot Program (neighbours helping neighbours) for those who are unable to clear their sidewalks
And most importantly...
I will encourage cooperation with all levels of government to promote economic growth for our city and to advocate for funding towards crime prevention, homelessness, affordable housing, roads, transit, and sewer overflow prevention.
About Me
I am a lifelong resident of St. James and I am proud to share that both my parents have served our Country in the Canadian Air Forces. I am a family man through and through and reside with my wife Teresa. I have two daughters and 5 wonderful grandchildren.
I am an Alumni for both John Taylor Collegiate and Red River College. I worked in construction for over a decade as a Journeyman Carpenter followed by another decade with the St. James Assiniboia School Division in the Transportation Department before serving as a Councillor for the City. Currently, I am back with the St. James Assiniboia School Division as a Carpenter, and I aspire to be your City Councillor once again.

Suggested that Executive Summaries be added to reports so they could be more easily understood by all.
